An IT professional who was addicted to gambling stole a large amount of money from his company. Jonathan Revill, worked for a company in Leeds as an IT manager and during his employment he stole a total of 19 Million GBP in IT Supplies. He then sold those IT Supplies for 5.6 Million GBP, Jonathan used the money to feed his online gambling addiction.
Mr. Revill used the majority of the money he stole to gamble online. Eventually Jonathan was found guilty of his criminal activity and was charged for several years in prison. This month he once again re-appeared in the Leeds Crown Courts to be sentenced on a Crime Confiscation hearing.
Mehran Nassiri, the Prosecutor for this case noted that a total of 608,909 Thousand GBP remain of Mr. Revill’s assets. These assets include his home which is worth 515,000 Thousand GBP. Other than that he has equity in investments that are worth 21,000 Thousand GBP. All of his remaining assets have been seized.
On top of having his assets seized, Mr. Revill also was sentenced to an additional four years in jail. He has also be order to repay the amount he stole once his sentence is over. Mr. Revill has not been able to comment on his actions due to the authorities.
Mr. Nassiri did comment on this case saying, “Mr. Revill is a symbol that shows the negative effects on online gambling. That we need to regulate the industry in order to stop future issues such as this one.”
