Paul W.S. Anderson, the man behind the Resident Evil series made an announcement regarding the sixth installment in the franchise. During an appearance at the International Film Festival Mr. Anderson said that he would be returning to the project, making various changes in order to better the movie and its action sequences.
The director stated that the new film will be called “Resident Evil: Rising” and will reprise the rolls of his wife, Ada Wong and many more members of the cast. The film will be set later on in the future as all members of the cast work towards defeating the Umbrella Corporation and all their off branch companies. The Umbrella Corporation continues to unleash more deadly viruses upon the world, making the once zombie apocalypse into the mutant apocalypse.
The movie will also be released in 3D, making the experience of the movie more lively and realistic. The film was to be released in late 2014 but unfortunately the film had to be revised as Mr. Anderson didn’t approve of the film. The movie is now slated to be released in summer of 2015. There has also been rumors that after the sixth film is done the franchise will be rebooted and they’ll start from the beginning, hiring a whole new cast and giving an entire new experience for fans of the series.
Until then you can watch all five previous installments in the franchise on Blue-Ray or DVD. You can purchase all installments at one of your local electronic stores.
